Numbers swell for District 9550 Conference 2011

With the District conference just a week away, over 200+ Rotarians are now registered and set to swoop on Airlie Beach. With the weather dial in Airlie Beach now set on "PERFECT", all that is needed now is for it continue. Meanwhile, the town is busy with easter holiday makers enjoying the main street buzz, the shopping and the island adventure just beyond the shore.

Along with partners, many delegates will come together at the key social event at Daydream Island Resort where the DG's Dinner will be held. Daydream Island is about 20 minutes by ferry from Airlie Beach and Abel Point Marina ferry terminal.

Delegates are warned that the ride to an island resort and the related island time has been known to make some Rotarian a little wobbly when they return to shore, though not as a result of the ferry ride or high seas. :) The ferry trip is most times across impossibly calm waters!! Let's just say that what happens on the island stays on the island.

Regardless of the fun to be had at this gala dining event, the range of speakers at the conference will be very interesting. Besides the key note talk from Li Cunxin, the environment will be the focus local green gal Libby Edge, while the Brigadier Wayne Bowen will speak about time in the Australian military. Such diversity will ensure that people are well entertained and informed across the entire weekend. Throw in an air show next door and we have a very complete weekend!

Should you have not made accommodation arrangements as yet, we would like to point you to our official accommodation partners. While you have complete freedom across 70+ accommodation houses to stay in wonderful Airlie Beach, staying with one of our partner accomms helps fund the conference, ensuring its financial success.
